Story

The Addams Family's lawyer, Tully Alford, has taken control of their Gothic mansion and imprisoned Morticia Addams, Pugsley Addams, Wednesday Addams, Granny and Uncle Fester. The player controls Gomez Addams as he explores the various rooms in the mansion, locating items and battling monsters, until he has located all of the lost family members. The game has an almost completely open-world format, unusual for games of this era, which gives players the freedom to choose what order they will save the family members in. However, Gomez cannot save Morticia until the rest of the family is rescued.

The Addams Family is a platform game released in late 1992 across multiple systems, including Amiga, SNES, Genesis, and various European computers. The game served as a tie-in to the popular film franchise, bringing the macabre family to a side-scrolling adventure format.

The Amiga version has recently become the subject of community restoration efforts. A modified "Backgrounds Edition" is in development, addressing a longstanding issue with the original release by restoring visual elements that were absent from the initial Amiga ports. The project, led by community member DJ Mike, is expected to arrive in October 2026 for both OCS and AGA Amiga systems, offering Amiga enthusiasts a more complete version of Ocean's classic tie-in after more than three decades.
