How it works

OperoGames turns the firehose of gaming coverage into a ranked, de-duplicated feed. Here's what happens between an article being published and it showing up here.

1. We gather coverage

We continuously read the public feeds of gaming outlets across the web - news sites, review sites, esports desks, hardware specialists and deal trackers. We only ever ingest what publishers make available in their feeds: headlines, short summaries, a link and, where offered, an image.

2. We cluster it into stories

Many outlets cover the same event. We group articles that are about the same story into a single cluster, so a launch or a review that ten sites reported becomes one entry instead of ten. Clustering compares the wording of each headline and summary; a second article from the same outlet has to clear a much higher bar to join, so formulaic, repeated templates don't merge unrelated stories.

3. We rank by coverage, not by us

The default order isn't editorial. A story's rank is driven by how many independent sources are covering it, decayed by how recent the latest coverage is - so a story that many outlets picked up in the last few hours rises to the top. You can switch to Latest for a pure reverse-chronological view at any time.

4. We tag platforms and sections

Each story is automatically tagged with the platforms it's about (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, mobile) and sorted into an editorial section - News, Reviews, Esports, Hardware or Deals - so you can filter to exactly what you follow.

5. We track hype

We snapshot how coverage of each story grows over time. Stories gaining sources fast are flagged as Surging or Rising in the “Hype right now” rail, so you can see momentum, not just recency.

6. We connect stories to games

Where a headline names a game we know, the story is linked to that game's page - turning each game into a running timeline of everything being written about it.

What we don't do

We don't republish full articles, and we don't claim the reporting as ours. Every headline links to the original source, and each story credits the outlets covering it by name. The synthesis paragraph on a story page is generated only from how many outlets cover it and a representative excerpt - never by copying an article.
