Ancient Evil is an action-adventure RPG released in 1998 for PC, blending arcade-style gameplay with indie sensibilities. Recent coverage has focused on Wax Museum: Hidden Objects, a title drawing on the Ancient Evil concept. The game emphasizes exploration and puzzle-solving, casting players into an atmospheric scenario involving a stranded protagonist, a car accident, and an eerie wax museum setting. The experience prioritizes environmental secrets and environmental puzzles as core draw, combining hidden object mechanics with the broader adventure framework. The title suggests a continued interest in the indie action-RPG space in applying genre conventions to atmospheric, mystery-driven premises.
