Age of Empires: Definitive Edition

About

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is a remaster of the original real-time strategy game that established the series. The game features updated graphics and gameplay refinements while maintaining the core mechanics that defined early RTS titles. Recent developments have centered on significant organizational changes at World's Edge, the studio responsible for managing the Age of Empires franchise. The studio has reportedly experienced substantial staff reductions as part of Microsoft's broader Xbox consolidation efforts, with multiple positions eliminated alongside the cancellation of an unannounced project. These changes raise questions about the studio's capacity to continue supporting and developing the series going forward.
