Story

Soldiers. Scientists. Adventurers. Oddities. In a time of global crisis, an international task force of heroes banded together to restore peace to a war-torn world: OVERWATCH. It ended the crisis and helped to maintain peace in the decades that followed, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery. But after many years, Overwatch's influence waned, and it was eventually disbanded. Overwatch is gone… but the world still needs heroes.

What is happening now

Overwatch is a team-based first-person shooter that emphasizes role-based gameplay and coordinated strategy across multiple platforms. The game continues to generate interest through expanded media ventures and live event initiatives. Recent activity includes a collaboration with Critical Role, bringing the tabletop RPG experience into Overwatch's universe through Questwatch, an event featuring Matthew Mercer guiding players through the world of Overland. Separately, Blizzard has announced Twitch Drops for the upcoming BlizzCon event scheduled for September, allowing viewers to earn in-game rewards simply by watching the broadcast.
