About
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is a compilation that brings together remastered versions of earlier entries in the series alongside new content designed to bridge the gap toward Kingdom Hearts 3. The collection arrived as Square Enix's effort to reinvigorate fan interest in the franchise after a period where the series had largely retreated to mobile platforms. The Switch 2 port represents another platform expansion for the collection, extending access to what amounts to a prologue experience for the main sequel. Coverage suggests the compilation succeeded in its intended function as a bridge title, though it remains somewhat under the radar compared to larger releases in the series.
