Based on the Duel Masters Trading Card game in Japan, Duel Masters: Sempai Legends puts you in the role of a kohai (junior duelist). Your grandfather, a great Sempai (senior duelist), gives you a valuable Duel Masters card, which is soon stolen by a mysterious man. Now it is up to you to travel to nearby towns and villages in hopes of regaining the stolen property. Along the way, you'll face many opponents in Duel Masters tournaments with the hope of one day becoming a professional Duelist.

Duel Masters is a strategy card and board game that released on GameCube and PlayStation 2 in 2003. The digital card game remains active across multiple platforms, with the franchise preparing to mark its 25th anniversary. Recent announcements reveal Street Fighter characters are coming to the game following Capcom's shutdown of its own card game Teppen, while the mobile version Duel Masters PLAY'S is collaborating with anime property A Certain Scientific Railgun T to introduce characters from that series into the game. The collaboration will bring characters including protagonist Mikoto Misaka to Duel Masters City, though specifics remain limited beyond a teaser announcement.
