About
Shinobi is the long anticipated return of SEGA's fan-favorite series, bringing to Nintendo 3DS the classic side-scrolling action gameplay players have loved since the original.
What is happening now
Shinobi is a hack-and-slash beat-em-up that arrived on Nintendo 3DS in late 2011. Recent coverage has been sparse and largely unrelated to the 3DS release itself. Instead, discussion has centered on a developer's work-in-progress port of the original 1989 Shinobi to the Commodore Amiga 500, which began as an experimental recoloring project using assets from the Sega Master System version. The broader gaming conversation around ninja-themed content has also touched on narrative developments in other franchises, though this remains tangential to the 3DS title.
