About

You are in a single-screen shooter where your task is to prevent creatures and objects from escaping "The Pit," an octagonal prison. The escapees appear in the center and try to reach the edge. You move your spaceship around the perimeter and shoot inward to stop them, but you must avoid hitting your friend Spud, as doing so will cost you a life. An escapee only causes a life loss if it's a llama and reaches the edge. You also lose lives if you touch anything on the perimeter. A timer is also counting down, and if it reaches zero, the game ends, but you can shoot clocks to extend your time.

Story

In Exodus, humanity has been forced to abandon Earth and establish a new civilization in a hostile galaxy. Players are the Traveler, a person tasked with exploring far-off solar systems for advanced alien technology. What the Traveler counts in days, the rest of humanity experiences in decades. With this conceit, players' choices will cause butterfly effects to ripple across humanity's new planet, particularly in the lives of their own loved ones, and the Traveler will watch these play out over generations.

What is happening now

Exodus is a Mass Effect-inspired RPG from Archetype Entertainment, arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in early 2027. The game has weathered some industry turbulence recently, as parent company Hasbro recorded a $56 million impairment following the cancellation of several projects, though Exodus itself remains greenlit. The narrative director clarified that the game's release window is narrower than many assumed, pointing toward a very early 2027 launch rather than a mid-year arrival. Despite Hasbro's pivot away from its broader gaming ambitions following what it characterized as a costly expansion phase, Exodus has avoided the axe alongside fellow project Warlock.
