What is happening now
State of Decay 3 is an upcoming multiplayer survival game from Undead Labs, launching in late 2027 across Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. The title will feature an expanded map-and-mission structure built around cooperative play, with trust and squad dynamics forming core gameplay elements. Development has progressed steadily through 2026, with hands-on previews at Gamescom highlighting competent combat, teamwork mechanics, and exploration systems that balance accessibility for newcomers with depth for series veterans. Undead Labs announced a closed beta planned for late 2026 to stress-test the game's new untethered multiplayer system ahead of launch. Despite industry upheaval affecting the studio, State of Decay 3 remains on track for Game Pass on day one.
