Story

Take part in a daring mission led by Tokugawa's own spymaster, who has recruited the rōnin, Satoru and Akira, to protect a mysterious boy with immense, uncontrollable powers. Throughout their arduous journey, new heroes will join their cause, each with their own past and motivations. Together, they will confront tremendous and ever-growing dangers, striving to reclaim their honor and change the course of history. Every choice you make will guide your characters along unique and captivating paths: form new bonds, sever lifelong friendships, or mend fractured family ties. Your decisions will shape who they become.

What is happening now

Shadow of the Road is an indie tactical RPG from Owlcat Games set in an alternate vision of 19th-century Japan. The turn-based strategy title combines tactical combat with roguelike elements and is headed to PC this November. Recent promotional activity has centered on trailers showcasing the game's visual style and world design. A new "Nippon Divided" story trailer debuted at Telltale Games' Choices Matter Festival, while a separate journey trailer offered glimpses of the game's environments and HD-2D combat systems. Coverage has bundled Shadow of the Road alongside other upcoming RPG releases, suggesting it's part of a broader wave of genre releases heading to PC.
