Lost Ark is a free-to-play MMO RPG that launched on PC in February 2022. The game has seen significant structural changes recently, with Amazon Games announcing its withdrawal from MMO publishing - the company will hand over western operations back to developer Smilegate, ending Amazon's involvement with the title.
In the months leading up to this transition, Lost Ark has dealt with player attrition and server consolidation. The team conducted multiple rounds of server merges, reducing the western player base across different regions. The studio also began purging inactive guilds as part of server health efforts. On the content side, recent updates have introduced new extreme raid challenges like Aegir Extreme and Paradise Season 4, along with adjustments to solo mode. The game also experienced a serious account issue severe enough that Amazon advised affected players to remain logged out while the problem was investigated.
