Tomodachi Life 2013

About

Tomodachi Life is a communication game for the 3DS in which players can convert their Miis into Tomodachis (or create new ones) and put them in a wide range of scenarios ranging from charming to utterly ridiculous. A key feature of the game is its text-to-speech tech which outputs user generated text as computerized speech in seven languages (EFIGS, Japanese and Korean).

What is happening now

Tomodachi Life is a life-simulation adventure game originally released for Nintendo 3DS in 2013. A new entry, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, has arrived on Nintendo Switch and found considerable commercial success, moving over 8 million copies and maintaining a consistent presence atop digital sales charts throughout summer 2026. The game has received ongoing support through updates, including a recent patch to version 1.0.4, while promotional efforts have included new Japanese commercials featuring celebrity appearances. Both the original 3DS release and its Switch successor continue to rank among Nintendo's strongest performers alongside titles like Mario Kart World and Pokemon Pokopia.
