About

A new school RPG produced by Koji Okada. Genome editing ushers in a "new era of life." To live with the burden of karma. —Is there hope beyond that?

Story

In the near future, humanity stands on the verge of extinction. One day, a “strange phenomenon” occurs in the Adhvan Resilience Research Academy City, which was established to deal with the impending doom. Monstrous creatures known as “GEMs” begin attacking people, and at the same time the academy city is sealed off by a mysterious “bubble,” leaving no means of escape to the outside. In this closed and desperate situation, each person is forced to confront the “karma” they bear. What is the truth behind the strange phenomenon surrounding the academy city?

What is happening now

Villion:Code is an action RPG from Compile Heart featuring character designs and creative input from veterans associated with the early Megami Tensei and Persona series. The game follows students trapped in an academy city after mysterious circumstances threaten humanity with extinction, presented as a school-based adventure set in a near-future setting. The title launches January 26, 2027 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with both physical and digital editions confirmed. Its arrival coincides with a notably crowded January release window for PlayStation 5, positioning Villion:Code alongside other notable debuts that month. Coverage has emphasized the dungeon-crawling, 360-degree action gameplay alongside the familiar school-life narrative framework, with interviews exploring how the genre has evolved since its classical iterations despite player expectations remaining rooted in established JRPG conventions.
