About
The rhythm is starting up again! Rhythm Heaven Groove comes to Nintendo Switch!
What is happening now
Rhythm Heaven Groove marks the series' return after an 11-year absence, launching on Nintendo Switch in early July with composer Tsunku returning to work with Nintendo. The rhythm-based title distinguishes itself by pairing reflex gameplay with diverse musical styles rather than relying solely on electronic or rock tracks. The game has been a commercial and critical success in Japan. It moved close to 700,000 physical copies at retail during its launch month, securing the top spot on Japanese sales charts and maintaining that position through August. Coverage reflects strong critical reception, with reviewers calling it a triumphant comeback for the dormant franchise. The release has also drawn attention from entertainers across streaming and social media, broadening its cultural reach beyond traditional rhythm game audiences.
