About
Skate or Die! is a skateboarding sports game that arrived on NES and Commodore platforms in late 1986, later reaching PC. The title embraces absurdist humor alongside its skating mechanics, presenting a deliberately over-the-top take on the sport rather than aiming for simulation. Recent coverage has highlighted the game's wonderfully ridiculous approach to its subject matter, positioning it as a deliberately silly entry in the NES library that doesn't take itself seriously. The game stands out for leaning into comedic excess rather than attempting authentic skateboarding representation, making it a notable artifact of 1980s arcade sports game design.
