What is happening now
Pacific Rim is a fighting game released in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Based on the film franchise, it centers on mech-versus-monster combat mechanics. Recent coverage has primarily focused on Magic: The Gathering's upcoming sets rather than the game itself, with one announcement noting that an upcoming MTG set planned for 2027 will feature a mechs-versus-monsters battle setting in the Kamigawa world - a concept drawing thematic parallels to Pacific Rim's core premise.
