Star Fox arrived on Nintendo Switch in June 2026 and is now getting support on Switch 2 with a full remake. Nintendo recently shared behind-the-scenes footage of the game's orchestra recording sessions, giving fans a glimpse at its audio production. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, the Switch 2 release was greenlit partly due to momentum from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which he cited as a factor in Nintendo's decision-making for the console's lineup.
Beyond Nintendo's own efforts, Star Fox continues to influence the wider industry. The series' action-flight formula has inspired developers elsewhere, including an upcoming Steam game that blends Resident Evil Zero's survival mechanics with Star Fox-style gameplay. Meanwhile, the classic 1993 SNES original has been enhanced with Randy Linden's new Super FX 3 chipset, allowing it to maintain its maximum frame rate more consistently than before.
