Bethesda reveals how The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered managed to squeeze into a Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge
Covered by 4 sources · 4 articles
Bethesda's Oblivion Remastered has arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 with the full game intact, including all content from the original release. Despite the Switch 2's more modest hardware compared to current-generation consoles, the port manages to run the expansive open world without compromises through careful optimization work. The achievement highlights how technical expertise can still deliver full-featured experiences on Nintendo's less powerful platform, even when porting demanding titles.
- No content was removed to fit the game on Switch 2 cartridges, suggesting efficient compression and optimization handled the space constraints.
- The Switch 2's performance gap relative to PS5 and Xbox Series X didn't prevent a complete port, relying instead on development techniques rather than cutting features.
- A Deluxe Edition physical release is available for preorder, expanding the remaster's availability beyond digital formats.
