Magic: The Gathering is expanding its Universes Beyond program with a new The Hobbit-themed set, building on the momentum from its earlier Lord of the Rings collection. The set features artwork depicting hobbit characters and fantasy creatures from Tolkien's world, positioning it as a natural continuation of Magic's licensed crossover strategy. The cards are now available for purchase.
This move reflects Magic's broader effort to leverage established intellectual properties beyond its core fantasy setting. The Hobbit set demonstrates the trading card game's confidence in the Universes Beyond initiative, which has proven successful enough to warrant a return to Middle-earth.
- Magic: The Gathering's Hobbit set extends the game's licensed crossover program following a successful Lord of the Rings release.
- The set includes artwork centered on hobbit characters and fantasy creatures from the source material.
- This represents Magic's ongoing strategy to bring recognized fictional universes into its card game ecosystem.
