Fallout 76 will receive a free upgrade for Xbox Series X|S starting September 15th, bringing the seven-year-old game to current-generation hardware. Bethesda announced the upgrade as part of the title's ongoing support roadmap. The timing aligns with a broader seasonal update focused on horror-themed content arriving in the fall.
The delay in delivering a current-gen patch was notable given how long the game has been available; many competitors shipped native versions years earlier. This upgrade represents another attempt to refresh the online survival title's aging infrastructure.
- Fallout 76's Xbox Series X|S upgrade launches September 15th at no cost to existing players.
- The upgrade arrives seven years after the game's original release, making it a considerably late optimization for those platforms.
- The patch coincides with fall-themed content updates Bethesda has planned for the game.
