Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, but the platform will handle the release differently than other versions. The game will arrive as a code-in-box rather than a physical cartridge, according to North America's leading independent game retailer and distributor. Switch 2 players won't participate in the current early access period, though Activision has arranged a separate open beta scheduled for next weekend that will be exclusive to the console's community.
The code-in-box approach suggests storage limitations remain a consideration for the handheld hardware, though gameplay footage from the Switch 2 build has already surfaced, giving early glimpses of how the port performs on Nintendo's new system.
- Modern Warfare 4 ships as a code-in-box on Switch 2 rather than on physical cartridge, likely due to the game's size.
- Switch 2 players get their own open beta next weekend, separate from the current early access period running on other platforms.
- Footage from the Switch 2 version is already circulating online, indicating development is progressing toward launch.
