Commodore and Antstream have announced the Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection, bringing together six entries from Team17's sci-fi horror series to Nintendo Switch this September. The release marks a notable moment for Commodore, serving as the company's first publishing announcement since entering a new operational phase. The collaboration reunites the publisher with the franchise it originally championed, making for a symbolically fitting revival of a classic series.
The collection packages the retro shooter titles together for modern audiences, emphasizing both nostalgia and accessibility on current hardware. Antstream's involvement as developer suggests the ports will receive technical care for the Switch platform.
- Commodore's return as a publisher centers on re-releasing one of its most recognizable franchises, positioning the company's resurgence squarely in retro gaming territory.
- Six Alien Breed games will be compiled into a single Switch release, arriving within months rather than staggered launches.
- The partnership with Antstream and Team17 reflects a broader industry trend of legacy publishers tapping their back catalogues for contemporary platforms.
