LEGO's next wave of Super Mario sets marks a significant shift from the product line's earlier approach. The 2027 lineup introduces minifigures as playable characters for the first time, a departure that should appeal to collectors and builders seeking more traditional LEGO construction experiences. The range spans eight sets total, with Bowser's Castle and Mario Kart-themed vehicles anchoring the collection.
This move toward minifigure representation signals LEGO's effort to deepen integration with the Super Mario IP, moving beyond the specialized brick-based figures that defined the line's inaugural releases. The focus on iconic locations and racing gameplay suggests the company is building out sets that leverage multiple recognizable Nintendo properties.
- Minifigures are now the primary character representation across the 2027 lineup, replacing previous LEGO Super Mario figure types.
- Eight distinct sets comprise the collection, including dedicated Bowser's Castle and Mario Kart vehicle options.
- The redesigned approach reflects LEGO's strategy to broaden the Super Mario line's appeal through more conventional building mechanics.
