Rockstar Games has addressed the wave of Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay footage that circulated online earlier this month, acknowledging the leaks in an official statement. The studio characterized the situation as emotionally difficult for its development team, marking the company's first public comment on the matter since the videos began spreading. The leaked material appeared to show early gameplay sequences, prompting Rockstar to break its typical silence on such incidents.
The statement signals how significantly the unauthorized footage has impacted the studio, though Rockstar did not outline specific plans to combat further leaks or discuss whether the materials would affect the game's development timeline.
- Rockstar confirmed the leaks are genuine and acknowledged their toll on staff morale, a rare admission of how data breaches affect game developers personally.
- The company has not detailed enforcement actions or provided updates on GTA 6's release window despite the compromised footage.
