Spike Chunsoft announced that the physical Nintendo Switch 2 version of Danganronpa 2×2 will ship as a game key card rather than a traditional cartridge. The publisher cited unspecified unavoidable circumstances for the shift. As a result, all US pre-orders placed through Spike Chunsoft's Shopify store are being cancelled and refunded to customers. The publisher clarified that this change applies only to the Switch 2 physical release and won't impact other versions or future titles.
- Danganronpa 2×2's Switch 2 physical edition will contain just a key card, a significant departure from standard console game packaging.
- Customers who pre-ordered through the official US store will receive full refunds, requiring them to purchase elsewhere if they still want the physical version.
- The decision is isolated to this one release and doesn't signal broader changes to Spike Chunsoft's physical release strategy.
