Konami's Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will arrive on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in August 2026, but the collection notably excludes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The PlayStation 3 exclusive won't make the transition to Nintendo hardware, marking a significant gap in an otherwise comprehensive anthology. This omission likely stems from technical hurdles or licensing complexities tied to MGS4's deep integration with PlayStation's architecture and online services.
The decision leaves Nintendo players with access to other entries in the series through the Master Collection, though the absence of the numbered sequel that concluded Solid Snake's story represents a notable limitation for those seeking a complete Metal Gear experience on portable or hybrid platforms.
- MGS4 remains unavailable on Switch platforms, restricting the Master Collection's scope despite bringing other series entries to Nintendo hardware.
- The August 2026 launch will mark the first time most Metal Gear games appear on Nintendo systems, though the PS3 title's exclusion signals ongoing technical or rights barriers.
