Step into the shadows of the deadliest dwelling on earth. You've arrived at Castlevania, and you're here on business: To destroy forever the Curse of the Evil Count. Unfortunately, everybody's home this evening. Bats, ghosts, every kind of creature you can imagine. You'll find 'em all over the place, if they don't find you first. Because you've got to get through six monstrous floors before you even meet up with the Master of the House. Your Magic Whip will help, and you'll probably find a weapons or two along the way. But once you make it to the tower, you can count on a Duel to the Death. The Count has waited 100 years for a rematch.

Story

Castlevania games debut on the N64 this is the first Castlevania game in 3D. However, the goal of the game remains the same: defeat Dracula and his monsters. The player can choose to be Reinhardt Schneider with traditional whip or Carrie Fernandez who uses magic. A new feature is the presence of an in-game clock that switches time from day to night.

What is happening now

Castlevania is the foundational action-platformer that debuted on NES in 1986, establishing the whip-wielding Belmont lineage across numerous platforms including Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The franchise is experiencing renewed momentum with a new Castlevania project from the developers behind Dead cells, which has generated positive early impressions. Konami is capitalizing on this resurgence by committing to a substantial presence at PAX West 2026, where the company will showcase the series alongside Metal Gear and Silent Hill through playable demos, developer discussions, and themed activations.
