About
Monster Hunter Stories is a role-playing game spin-off of the popular Monster Hunter franchise, but features a drastically different gameplay focus. Unlike previous titles in the franchise, Monster Hunter Stories lets players take on the role of a Rider instead of a Hunter, and are able to take part in a traditional turn-based battle system. Major changes and additions featured in this title include hatching eggs and befriending monsters, battling alongside them, executing special kinship techniques, and customizing monsters' abilities and appearance
What is happening now
Monster Hunter Stories is a spin-off series that trades the core Monster Hunter formula's combat focus for a narrative-driven RPG experience. Rather than grinding for materials and building gear, the series emphasizes story and world-building within the monster-hunting universe. The original launched on 3DS in 2016, with mobile versions following on iOS and Android. The series has expanded significantly, with Monster Hunter Stories 3 now available across multiple platforms. Recent promotions through Nintendo's eShop have offered the game at historically low prices during the Tokyo Game Show sales period. Capcom has also committed to bringing Xbox Play Anywhere support to the title this November, expanding its platform availability. The franchise has maintained cultural presence with soundtrack sampling generating continued interest among fans.
