Rise of the Tomb Raider is a third-person action-adventure game in which players control Lara Croft as she searches for the legendary city of Kitezh and a promise of immortality. Combat involves firearms, stealth, and melee weapons, while semi-open hub areas offer challenge tombs with puzzles, side missions, and resource scavenging for crafting. Players earn experience and unlock skills across three trees focused on combat, hunting, and survival. The game features an Expeditions mode that allows replaying levels with modifiers in place of traditional multiplayer.
Story
A year after her experiences on Yamatai, archaeologist Lara Croft turns to her late father's research on the lost city of Kitezh and an artifact called the Divine Source, said to grant immortality. Her search leads her from Syria to the wilderness of Siberia, where she encounters Trinity, a paramilitary organization also seeking the artifact. After being captured and escaping with the help of a man named Jacob, Lara allies with his people, the Remnants, descendants of Kitezh's original inhabitants, to reach the city before Trinity can claim its power.
What is happening now
Rise of the Tomb Raider is an action-adventure shooter that originally released in 2015 and has since made its way to numerous platforms. The game follows Lara Croft as the second entry in the modern Tomb Raider reboot trilogy, continuing the survival-focused narrative established by its predecessor. The game has recently arrived on Nintendo Switch 2, marking a notable platform expansion for the title. Interestingly, despite the new port, Rise of the Tomb Raider never saw a release on the original Nintendo Switch. The Switch 2 version includes gyro control support, a feature designed specifically for the newer hardware.
