About
Oblivion is a short, story-driven first-person horror game. Uncover the truth hidden within an abandoned school — but beware, some memories were never meant to return.
What is happening now
Oblivion Remastered launched to persistent technical problems across PC and console versions, with performance issues and bugs that have largely gone unaddressed for over a year following its last major patch. The remaster has attracted considerably less commercial success than rival remakes - Resident Evil 4's remake significantly outsold it this generation. Bethesda has acknowledged the game's troubled state, with studio leadership confirming via Reddit that fixes remain on the roadmap despite recent layoffs. The Switch 2 port, arriving in August, offers potential relief. Bethesda claims the handheld version includes optimisations they intend to backport to PC and console versions, finally breaking the patch drought that's frustrated the playerbase. First gameplay footage has since circulated, though the company's tendency toward non-committal messaging has left fans sceptical about Bethesda's intentions with this and other remaster efforts.
