What is happening now

NHL 27 arrives with a considerable list of overhauls targeting both on-ice and presentation layers. The Deluxe Edition features rebuilt arenas, improved AI routines, team-specific tactical systems, and a revamped broadcast presentation aimed at modernizing the franchise's feel. Critical reception has been mixed despite these additions. Some reviewers found the core gameplay improvements substantial enough to warrant attention, with comparisons drawn to stronger entries in the series' history. Others, however, found the enhancements undermined by persistent issues - particularly cumbersome menu design - and questioned whether the overall package justifies another year's investment. The consensus suggests NHL 27 makes meaningful strides in certain areas while falling short of delivering the cohesive experience needed to excite the fanbase.
