Dead of Darkness 2 is a 2D isometric survival horror game from solo developer Retrofiction Games, built with sprite-based visuals that evoke classic survival horror on retro hardware. The sequel channels the design sensibilities of early Resident Evil as it might have appeared on the Super Nintendo - claustrophobic and atmospheric despite its technical constraints. Following its announcement, the game has secured a multi-platform release strategy spanning PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG. Retrofiction Games will handle self-publishing on PC, while eastasiasoft is handling console releases. The project represents an attempt to reimagine survival horror through a decidedly retro lens.
