About
Mortal Kombat 2 is a 1993 arcade fighting game that saw wide release across multiple platforms throughout the 90s and 2000s, from home consoles like Genesis and SNES to later ports on PlayStation and Saturn. Recent coverage surrounding the franchise has focused on the 2026 live-action film adaptation, which grossed approximately $129 million domestically - a notable increase over the 2021 predecessor's $84.4 million. Though the film opened strongly, it has been characterized as a middling performer overall. When asked about prospects for a third installment, the director remained noncommittal, offering only vague assurances to revisit the question at a later date.
