Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition is a remastered version of Rockstar's 2004 open-world crime sandbox, bringing the sprawling San Andreas setting to modern platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The Definitive Edition launched in November 2021. While official support has remained limited, the game's community has kept it alive through independent efforts. A fan-made mod has recently brought a VR adaptation to Meta Quest 3, fulfilling what was announced years earlier as an official VR project that never materialized. The mod represents an interesting case of players filling the gap left by corporate abandonment.
