Disney and Square Enix unveiled fresh details for Kingdom Hearts IV during D23, confirming that the action RPG will include a world based on Pixar's Coco alongside a late 2027 release target. The new trailer, shown during the event's showcase presentation, provided an extended look at the game's direction after years of anticipation from the franchise's fanbase. The title is confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The announcement also extended beyond the game itself. Disney simultaneously confirmed a Kingdom Hearts anime series headed to Disney+, expanding the franchise's multimedia presence alongside the new mainline entry.
- Coco joins the confirmed worlds for Kingdom Hearts IV, marking another Pixar property integration into the series' Disney-franchise hub.
- Late 2027 positioning places the game roughly a year-plus away, providing a concrete release window after years of development updates.
- Multi-platform launch including Switch 2 signals broad accessibility, though the reveal underscores Nintendo's new console as an active target for major third-party releases.
