Kingdom Hearts IV is the next major entry in Square Enix and Disney's long-running action RPG series, arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC in late 2027. The game will feature playable versions of Mickey, Donald, and Goofy alongside returning protagonist Sora, and will introduce Pixar's Coco as a new world alongside returning locations like Scala ad Caelum and Quadratum. Recent trailers and developer panels have outlined the game's scope and direction. The team has highlighted Quadratum's scale and traversal mechanics as a major focus, while confirming that Scala ad Caelum will play a significant role in the story. New gameplay mechanics include Mickey's puzzle-solving abilities using origami, and Riku will appear in Quadratum. Maleficent's role in the narrative has been confirmed as important. Director Tetsuya Nomura emphasized that the team is confident in meeting the 2027 window and noted that Kingdom Hearts IV will finally realize a concept the developers have been pursuing since the previous mainline entry. The game will support Xbox Play Anywhere on Microsoft platforms.
