Mortal Shell II launches into an increasingly saturated Soulslike landscape with a strong first impression, establishing its tone and mechanics in opening moments that effectively preview what's to come across roughly 30 hours of gameplay. The sequel offers eight distinct Shells for players to inhabit, each presumably presenting different playstyles and approaches to combat. The critical consensus centers on the game's ability to hook players early - a crucial advantage in a genre where early momentum often determines whether players stick around.
- Strong opening design is critical in Soulslike games; Mortal Shell II executes this well, maintaining quality through extended playtime.
- Eight Shell options provide meaningful build variety, though reviewers are still evaluating which loadouts prove most viable.
