Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is an upcoming original IP from Naughty Dog for SteamVR, marking the studio's first new franchise since announcing the project. The game has been in development for several years, with the studio's recent output limited to remakes and remasters of existing properties. According to insider reports, Intergalactic is targeting a 2027 release alongside Assassin's Creed Hexe. The extended development timeline has prompted discussion about Naughty Dog's working conditions, with some suggesting the studio may be operating under an unsustainable schedule. A former developer has also cautioned that the game may require editorial changes to avoid narrative controversy similar to previous franchise entries.
