Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet 2027

About

Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.

What is happening now

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is Naughty Dog's first original IP since The Last of Us Part II, a hack-and-slash adventure slated for PlayStation 5 at the end of 2027. The studio has kept the project under wraps for years, leading to speculation about development challenges and concerns regarding an unsustainable production schedule. Recent activity suggests momentum is building. Naughty Dog wrapped principal cinematography, prompting hopes for an imminent reveal at PlayStation's next presentation. The studio has added returning actor Robin Atkin Downes to its cast, signaling progress on what leadership describes as an ambitious cinematic undertaking. Some commentary has raised questions about the game's narrative direction, though Naughty Dog clarified that production lessons from Neil Druckmann's time on the HBO Last of Us adaptation are informing the project without directly influencing its writing.
