Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

About

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, an action RPG that launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in early 2024, has since expanded to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Director Naoki Hamaguchi's sequel to the Remake continues the reimagining of the classic Final Fantasy VII story with expanded world-building and numerous optional quests. Recent coverage reflects the game's continued presence across multiple platforms and growing modding ecosystem. The PC version has drawn attention for its lighting, with community shader mods addressing what some viewed as flat lighting in the original release. Square Enix reported that the game's Xbox launch, arriving two years after its initial release, performed solidly for the publisher. Meanwhile, the director acknowledged player feedback about side quest fatigue, recognizing that the game's substantial optional content created decision paralysis for some players. Licensing announcements, including a premium Aerith statue pre-order, signal Square Enix's ongoing merchandising support for the title.
