Final Fantasy XIV, the long-running fantasy MMO, continues to expand its reach and content offerings. The game recently launched on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the sprawling adventure to the hybrid console with a free trial option and launch discounts for new players. The port appears to have resonated well, with early impressions suggesting it performs better than expected on the hardware.
On the content side, Square Enix is ramping up announcements ahead of patch 7.55, which introduces the North Horn region within the Occult Crescent, concludes the Phantom Weapons quest line, and delivers new Hildibrand Adventures. The team is also preparing for a fan festival keynote scheduled for July 25th, where major reveals for the game's future are expected. A free trial remains available across all platforms, including the new Switch 2 version.
