Dead by Daylight is now testing Denuvo, but "will not include" its anti-piracy DRM
A new Dead by Daylight anti-cheat trial is testing Denuvo’s protection tool, but Behaviour Interactive makes clear there will be no DRM.
Dead by Daylight is the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where one player takes on the role of a killer while others attempt to survive and escape. The title has become the genre's most prominent entry since its 2016 launch.
Recent coverage has surfaced an interesting piece of industry history: developer Fatshark had created a playable prototype for a licensed Scream multiplayer game years before Dead by Daylight's release, though that project never reached the public. More immediately, the game is currently testing Denuvo's anti-cheat system in a limited trial. Behaviour Interactive has clarified that despite the test, the full game will not implement Denuvo's anti-piracy DRM layer - the trial focuses solely on the anti-cheat functionality.
