About

Marvel's Spider-Man came out in 2000 for Nintendo 64, then for PlayStation on August 30, 2000 and for Dreamcast on April 19, 2001. The main story takes about 6 hours, doing everything about 12 hours. It was nominated for 9 awards.

Starring the world’s most iconic Super Hero, Spider-Man features the acrobatic abilities, improvisation and web-slinging that the wall-crawler is famous for, while also introducing elements never-before-seen in a Spider-Man game. From traversing with parkour and utilizing the environment, to new combat and blockbuster set pieces, it’s Spider-Man unlike any you’ve played before.

Story

Marvel's Spider-Man follows Peter Parker, a 23-year-old college graduate and research assistant who gained superhuman abilities after being bitten by a radioactive spider. Peter is in his eighth year of crime-fighting under his super heroic alter ego of Spider-Man, who has become highly experienced at this point, but struggles to balance his superhero and personal lives. The game's open-world sandbox allows the player to control Spider-Man throughout Manhattan, New York City. Spider-Man fights enemies with his brawler moveset and a wide array of web gadgets. At key points in the story, the player also controls Peter Parker (outside of his Spider-Man identity), Mary Jane Watson, and Miles Morales.

What is happening now

Marvel's Spider-Man is an action game following Peter Parker's adventures across New York, available on PlayStation 4, PC, and PlayStation 5. The series has expanded to include Miles Morales as a playable character, delivering what many consider a definitive superhero game experience with strong narrative focus and combat design. Recent coverage suggests the Spider-Man series remains a high water mark for licensed superhero games, though some critics argue other 2021 releases have since claimed the top spot in the genre. The franchise's approach to balancing story-driven gameplay with open-world exploration continues to define modern superhero action games, even as the conversation around the best examples in the space evolves.
