Write your own epic odyssey and become a legendary Spartan hero in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, an inspiring adventure where you must forge your destiny and define your own path in a world on the brink of tearing itself apart. Influence how history unfolds as you experience a rich and ever-changing world shaped by your decisions.

Story

Set in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War, the player takes the role of either Alexios or Kassandra, a Spartan mercenary cast out from their homeland. On a journey that spans the Greek world, they must uncover the truth about their fractured family while navigating the conflict between Athens and Sparta. Along the way, the protagonist becomes entangled with a mysterious cult operating in the shadows and discovers a connection to a civilization far older than their own. Their choices shape alliances, determine the fates of those around them, and influence how history unfolds across the Greek world.

What is happening now

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a sprawling action-RPG that launched in 2018, offering an expansive ancient Greek setting with branching narratives and character-driven gameplay across multiple platforms. Nearly six years after release, the game has experienced an unexpected resurgence in player activity driven by the launch of Christopher Nolan's film The Odyssey. The thematic connection has drawn approximately 250,000 players back across all platforms, making Odyssey the highest-rated entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise on Steam with 89% very positive reviews. The phenomenon underscores how Hollywood releases can revitalize aging titles without requiring new in-game content.
