God Of War 2023

About

God of War is a simulation title released in February 2023 on web platforms. The franchise continues to generate significant industry discussion and development activity across multiple fronts. Sony Santa Monica Studio's God of War saga remains in active expansion. Developer Cory Barlog recently confirmed plans for another mainline entry following the upcoming God of War: Laufey, which will continue Kratos' story directly from that game's conclusion. Meanwhile, a live-action adaptation is in development at Prime Video, where casting decisions have drawn fan attention - recent promotional imagery of Ryan Hurst as Kratos has been better received than earlier photos used in the adaptation's marketing push. Beyond active development, the franchise has become a reference point in broader industry conversations about Sony's business decisions and studio consolidation, with former PlayStation leadership citing games like God of War as part of the company's strategic shift toward high-budget AAA titles.
