About
A short adventure game created from a real dream.
What is happening now
Dream Diary is an adventure game developed by Yume Nikki creator Kikiyama, released in July 2024 for Game Boy Color and web browsers. The project marks a notable solo effort from the notoriously private developer, who handled all pixel art and music composition independently. According to RPG Maker producer Hiroyuki Ichinose, Kikiyama drew directly from their personal dream diary as creative source material. The game represents a rare opportunity to see the artistic vision behind one of indie gaming's most enigmatic figures, with Ichinose providing insight into his interactions with the reclusive developer. Given Kikiyama's history with surreal, experimental design, Dream Diary continues that tradition while remaining largely shrouded in the developer's characteristic mystery.
