Story

Once in the Shōwa period, the defunct Japanese army intended to approach Henry Pu-yi, the last Emperor of the Ching Dynasty in their effort to take advantages. However, they were defeated by the Imperial guards who utilized the martial art called Hakkyoku-ken. During World War II, the Japanese army research the mysteries of Hakkyoku-ken to create supersoldiers, developing the ultimate martial art. Approximately half a century has passed since then, the ultimate World Fighting Tournament is about to start, and all kinds of fighters from around the world engage to determine the world's best. Behind the Tournament, however, there exists an intrigue designed by a sinister syndicate.

What is happening now

Virtua Fighter established itself as a landmark 3D fighting game when it arrived in arcades in 1993, competing alongside other genre giants of that era. The title subsequently saw ports to Sega's 32X and Saturn hardware, cementing its place in the company's arcade-to-home conversion legacy. Recent developments have brought renewed attention to the franchise. Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage joined Xbox Game Pass in September, expanding access to the series for modern audiences. Separately, a fan project has been working to enhance the original 32X version with improved frame rates and visual polish. Meanwhile, NVIDIA and Sega marked three decades of collaboration by announcing classic Sega titles, including Virtua Fighter, for RTX Spark PCs - a milestone that traces back to the original game's appearance on NVIDIA's NV1 hardware in the mid-1990s.
